Lansing Auto Service Business Raises Money for Cancer by Performing Oil Changes
Sam Postema, Owner, Professional Fleet Services in Lansing MI is donating earnings from Oil Changes in September to Mission of Hope Cancer Fund benefiting Cancer Patients and their families in Michigan
Lansing, MI August 26, 2009 — Local business Professional Fleet Services is donating money generated from oil changes in the month of September to Mission of Hope Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization that provides direct financial assistance to cancer patients and their families in Michigan.
“I work hard to give back to the community through various philanthropic efforts involving my business,” said Sam Postema, owner of Professional Fleet Services. “I want other community members to know how something as simple as getting your oil changed can benefit a local family in financial need – possibly a neighbor, a friend, or a schoolmate.”
The donations from this fundraiser will benefit individuals and their families fighting the battle against cancer and are intended to put donation dollars to work in the community rather than sending them out of Michigan.
In addition to his oil change fundraiser, Postema also donates his time and resources repairing cars that are given to needy community members.
He also buys all parts for his business locally to support the revitalization of the greater Lansing community.
“A large majority of the community will need oil changes anyway – why not bring your vehicle into to us during September and know that your money is staying in the community and going toward a worthy cause,” said Postema.
Postema is a perfect example of a local businessman who is taking steps to revitalize the Lansing community despite an economic downturn.
This Lansing native has been repairing vehicles since 1992 and has owned his own shop since 2001.
When other small businesses are struggling or closing their doors, Postema is striving for growth in his business and is also going the extra mile to give back to local community members in need.
