Alignment
How do I know if I need an alignment on my vehicle?
Is my steering wheel off center?
Are my tires wearing out to soon?
Are my tires worn unevenly or on the edges only?
Does my vehicle pull or drift to one side or the other?
These are all examples why you would need an alignment performed on your vehicle.
Tires
How do I know if I need Tires on my car or truck?
Is there a low speed (10mph to 45mph) wobble, shake, shimmy or vibration?
Is there a louder than normal humming or high pitched howl at high way speeds of 55mph – 75mph? Does the noise seem to change with the speed of the vehicle?
Do I lose traction on snow or wet pavement?
Does my vehicle slide when stopping or changing lanes?
Do I have steel chords or lack of visible tread on the tire?
Belts and Hoses
My belt fell off now what?
Normally a drive belt on a vehicle does not just fall off with the exception of a badly worn belt that was cracked so badly it should have been replaced 100,000 miles ago.
1st figure out what the belt used to ride on (which pulleys) then spin each one by hand and make sure they spin freely with no binding wobble or free play.
Next if you find a problem repair whichever component was the cause and then replace the belt. If no problem found replace belt and watch closely for any rubbing, noises or binding that could occur with the tension of the belt now riding on the pulleys. Nothing found your good to go.
Keep in mind if a belt breaks the vehicle is usually not able to be driven very far, a few miles at most and then the battery, power steering or coolant system will have serious problems.
