Replace Timing Belt
Manufacturers of today’s vehicles recommend replacement of timing belts between 60,000 and 100,000 miles.
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT REPAIR TO BE PERFORMED ON TODAY’S VEHICLES.
The average cost of the timing belt repair is $200 to $400. When the timing build breaks it will cause severe damage to engines resulting in a $1500 to $4000 repair. Most vehicles at this mileage are barely worth what it will cost to repair a timing belt failure.
We at Professional Fleet Services can advise you if your vehicle has a timing belt and how much it will cost to repair. We will offer you the best warranty in the United States, 3 year parts and labor!
Replacing the timing belt on most vehicles requires 2-4 hours of shop time. After removing the belt we check the condition of the pulleys and tensioners which hold the belt tight and in time with the engine. We also check for oil leaks which could be coming from oil seals on the engine. Third, we check the water pump for leakage.
It is recommended to replace any or all of the above while replacing the timing belt. The labor price usually does not increase much; you only end up paying for the additional cost of parts. Most vehicles will have 100,000 or more miles and, at any time, the water pump or pulleys could fail after the timing belt is replaced. Failure of these parts will result in more money being spent and the likelihood of engine damage.
